Let customers speak for us
from 181 reviewsIt's a great, almost necessary, guide for the Anthologion. It's worth having to help with the ribbons for daily prayer.
Thoughtfully put together!
I already own and regularly use the Anthologion, but decided to get the pocket prayer book for traveling. This is the perfect size to put in a pocket or small travel bag. It has the same familiar language and and contains all the necessities - morning and evening prayers, occasional prayers, Typica, Akathist, and more. I’m very happy with this purchase.
It's a beautiful and simple Gospel book. Thank God it is full text (Slavic style) which allows full use of the text beyond the pericopes. Thank you!
Absolutely love the Orthodox Liturgy or otherwise Divine Office. I am a Roman Catholic and I have used the traditionalist Benedictine Breviary for the past two years for the Office but now I'm using the Anthologion I absolutely love it!
I bought this text as a birthday gift for my husband who practices centering prayer. It was a wonderful book to find.
I ordered the pocket
Prayer Book, but received the Didache instead.
Discovered the huge bonus of the Liturgy of St James.
The compact form factor is extremely useful. And the type formatting with red highlights is beautiful.
Thanks for your great work!
Overall, this is an excellent book. You have all of the readings from the Apostle and Evangelikon, as well as the Prophetologion. So, one can follow the annual cycle of readings very easily. This allows one to better prepare for liturgy on Sunay, as well as grow in lectio divina.
The font is a perfect size for reading. The book sits comfortably in the hand when reading. There are plenty of ribbons. TH=he transaltion of the New Testatment is the wonderful Eastern Orthodox Bible translation.
The only negative thing is the calendar. The calendar is focused on the Russian usage as opposed to the Greek usage. We also have certain western saints included that the Russians declared were acceptable to Orthodoxy. However, when western saints that were traditionally in Greek calendars, such as St. Benedict of Nursia and Pope Leo of Rome are excluded in favor of a nonentity like Swithun (40 days of rain anyone?) I find myself questioning the accuracy of the Calendar.
This little book is a wonderful testimony to the early church. I really love it
This is a book I read everyday thank you very much
Absolutely a treasure! Every Christian should own this book and incorporate it into their daily readings and put it into their daily actions. How blessed we are to have an opportunity to purchase this book!
This is the second time I bought it, it's the best EDC prayer book ever. It goes nearly everywhere with me. The quality of materials, the reverence in the old English, and the spectrum of content make this my must have. Modern or traditional, whatever floats your boat, with Christ stilling the waters, you'll always stay afloat. Lord have mercy.
Best thing since sliced bread
Coming from the Roman "Liturgy of the Hours" and "Divine Worship:Daily Office", I craved the ability to pray morning and evening prayers with scripture, Psalms, and collects. I couldn't find a good way to pray "readers" versions of matins and vespers at home, and became discouraged. Then I found the original (modern) anthologion and realized it was the perfect fit. Initially I struggled with the language because it didn't sound like the liturgy in church, nor did it help me commit to memory the verbiage of those liturgies. Then the "traditional language" version came out and I found it perfectly complemented my attendance at church liturgy.
Perfect!
